ARTconnectsLA's art donation and placement program connects artists and collectors who want to donate artwork knowing that it will have an impact on those who access services at recipient agencies. Our artists are both established and emerging, and their work represents the spectrum of disciplines including painting, printmaking, sculpting and photography, and spans a multitude of media.
Artists donate work through ARTconnectsLA for a number of reasons, including to:
- Know their work can have an impact on the daily lives of people in need
- Show work to audiences who normally do not have access to art
- Have work out of storage and have it viewed by many
- Support a recipient agency's mission
- Increase their visibility and reputation
- Provide a solution to issues relating to estate planning
- Donate through a reliable program that makes the process simple
ARTconnectsLA also works with collectors who are interested in donating artwork. Collectors may want to make room in their collection for the acquisition of new pieces over time, and/or are interested in the tax deduction they are entitled to receive. (Note: the law currently allows tax deductions for collectors only, not artists.)
Children and spouses can also serve as "collectors" of a family member's work once he/she has passed away, in an effort to find a lasting home for the artwork to live on and inspire.
How to Participate:
If you are an artist or art collector with artwork that you are interested in making available for donation, please send us:
- Digital images of the artwork that you would like to donate. We prefer digital images in JPEG format approximately 250 KB to 1 MB.
- Artwork Information Sheet with information about the images.
- Art Donor Agreement -- two signed copies, one of which will be returned to you.
You can e-mail the information to us or send it via the post office to:
ARTconnectsLA
7162 Beverly Blvd. #212
Los Angeles, CA 90036
When we receive your images we will add the work to our art database, and show images of the art to qualified agencies for possible selection. It may take a month or even a year for work to be selected, because it is the agencies themselves who select the artwork that best fits their space and their clients.
Once your artwork is selected, we will notify you to confirm availability and ensure that you approve the placement. The agency will then contact you directly to arrange a time for them to pick up the work. They are responsible for picking up the work from you and for framing the artwork (if necessary), and hanging the work. You are making a gift of the donated work directly to the nonprofit agency. A Deed of Gift is signed by the art donor and the art recipient.
ARTconnectsLA provides a plaque for the recipient to install next to each piece of art with your name and details about the piece.
ARTconnectsLA is delighted that you are interested in sharing your artwork with Los Angeles.
Thank you for your generosity!
